I need your help!

I want to thank everyone for all your lovely comments and support with the change of the site name that was forced upon us.

But we’re not quite out of the woods yet, and I need your help if you can spare a couple of minutes.

Before we moved the site about 20,000 people visited the site every day.  With the new address for the site about half the people found the new site, but that still leaves about 10,000 regular users who didn’t see the notice about the change, and haven’t been able to find the new site 🙁

I wonder if you could help spread the word so the other users can find it?

If you could do any of these things it would really, really help!

  • If you have a website, add a link to www.wordhelper.org
  • If you have a blog, write a post about Word Helper
  • If you read any forums, write a post about Word Helper
  • If you’re on Facebook (or any other social network), share a link to www.wordhelper.org
  • If you’re on Twitter, post a tweet with a link to www.wordhelper.org
  • or any other way you know to get the word out!

Thanks for any help you can give 🙂

I like your site better than any other I have found. It is so clean and nonconfusing! Thanks much! I’ll spread the word for others to find it!

You need to add a social bookmarks plugin or something similar to your site – even the facebook recommendations bar (google it) – we’re putting them on our sites – and it pops up the “like” or “recommend” button on the site after a set period of time (you decide the time) – that would get the facebook recommendation/likes up for your site quickly I think.

Agreed – I used to have a social-media sharing bar, but I need to update all the social media accounts first – they all had the old “Scrabble Helper”/scrabblehelper.net name in them. Once I’ve changed them all to “Word Helper”/wordhelper.org (or created new accounts) I’ll put the sharing bar back in!

Your site is the best for what I need. It’s clean, fast and uncluttered. Thanks for all you do. Keep up the great work!

You need to let people know where to go. I went on to the old list and the notice had no links or indications as to what the new site name or its URL were. I only found it because I had the sense of mind to do a Google search for “Richard Loxley Ltd.” – which was the only useful bit of information on the notice.

Something like, “click here to go to the new site” with a link is all that would be needed.

I need to take legal advice on that sadly – I was asked to stop using the old domain by the lawyers, and I don’t know if a link to the new site would fall foul of that – hence the rather plain holding page 🙁

      • Tony says:

As long as you make it known that its not associated, and maybe only leave it up for a month or so. Don’t think you will have a problem.

  5. Graham says:

Nice site, very well done and I wish you all the best for the future.

  6. Laura says:

Why don’t you just put a redirect html page on scrabblehelper.net? Then people would automatically be redirected to the new site?

    • Richard says:

I need to take legal advice on that – I was asked to stop using the old domain by their lawyers, and I don’t know if a redirect would be allowed 🙁

Thank you so much for the email you sent. I have tried other sites, but I like yours better – it is more direct, simpler, easier, less hassle. Thanks for putting forth the time and effort to do this for us “fans.”

  8. Robin says:

Thanks for the email – I’ve used it so many times, I’ll be sure to spread the word & I’m bookmarking right now!

  9. Joyce Ellis says:

You are a wonderful resource. I had to look persistently to find this’d new site. Nothing compares!

I was an avid user of scrabble helper and i remember that i saw the banner at the top about the site moving to another domain however, i didnt write it down. So for the last couple of weeks I have been google searching trying to find out what the new name is and i finally found it! Maybe if you contacted google to become the first thing that pops up when you search under SCRABBLEHELPER your old following will come back to you.

    • Richard says:

I’ve already registered the new site with Google as being the new location for scrabblehelper.net, but it’s up to them where they place it in their listings. The only way to guarantee being at the top is to pay them for an advert, and I’m not sure I can afford that!
